An unexpected name made their return at this Friday’s Impact Wrestling television taping event in Mexico City, setting up another major bout for this year’s annual Bound for Glory pay-per-view.

The following post contains *SPOILERS* for segments that will air on Impact television this October. Proceed at your own risk…

After nearly five months away, Lucha Underground star Taya Valkyrie made a surprise appearance at Friday night’s taping via a video package, challenging Tessa Blanchard to a match for the Knockouts Championship at Bound for Glory.

Unfortunately, due to a previous wrestling commitment, Taya was unable to make the show in person, but reportedly received a great reaction from the local fans in attendance when her video played on the tron.

The 34-year-old Canadian actual spent the vast majority of her career working in Mexico, and holds the distinction of being the longest reigning AAA Reina de Reinas Champion in history – by a margin of more than 400 days!

Valkyrie was last seen on Impact Wrestling this past April, defeating Keira Hogan at the Impact Redemption pay-per-view. She is perhaps best known within the promotion for her lengthy rivalry with Rosemary.
