Shortly after celebrating his fourth birthday in March of 2013, Ben Morris was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Within a few short weeks, the aggressive type of cancer would ravage his young body, devastating Ben’s parents, Casi and Mike Morris.
Casi Morris described the heartbreak of caring for a sick child to Upworthy, saying:
Luckily, Ben’s big brother Ethan effortlessly lead the way, treating Ben just as he always had and inspiring his family to brave through the difficult journey. Far from intimidated by Ben’s illness, Ethan brought his favorite toys to the hospital and continued to play with his little brother like he would any other kid, Upworthy reports.
Over the next three years, while Ben endured countless rounds of chemotherapy, the Morris family did their best to maintain a sense of normalcy. Using their imaginations to transform his port into an Iron Man arc reactor and an IV bag full of fluids into Ninja Turtle goo, the boys managed to stay optimistic while waiting for good news.
Then, just this past June, the Morris family finally got the news they’d been waiting for: Ben was officially cancer-free.
Casi Morris recorded the boys’ reactions for a video that will easily be the most uplifting thing you’ll see all week. And with nearly 1 million views on YouTube, it seems many people would agree.
“We did it,” she says as her sons cheer in the background, “There were so many times I didn’t think we could.”
