NBA Twitter pokes fun at Lakers after Clippers land Kawhi Leonard and Paul George | Sporting News

One of the biggest chess pieces on the NBA free-agency board was captured late Friday when Kawhi Leonard reportedly agreed to a four-year, $142 million contract with the Clippers. LA then capped its wild night by reportedly acquiring Paul George from the Thunder for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari and a bevy of first-round draft picks.

The moves were a bit shocking; reports in the days leading up to Leonard’s decision pegged the Raptors and Lakers as front-runners to land the services of the two-time Finals MVP.

While it’s tough to lose out on a big-time free agent like Leonard, what makes matter worse for the Lakers is that he spurned them for their proverbial “little brother” just down the hall at Staples Center. As with all things, Twitter didn’t hesitate to remind the Lakers and their fans of that fact.

It seems after Friday night, the Clippers will no longer be an afterthought in LA basketball.
