In War-Torn Syria, The 5th Century-Built Ancestor Of Notre-Dame Still Stands Tall

While the fire at Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris left the marvel of Gothic architecture devastated, one of its ancestors built in 5th century still stands tall and that too in the war-torn Syria. The limestone marvel located in the village of Qalb Lozeh which means Heart of the Almond in Arabia, the cathedral goes by the same name and widely seen as the finest building of Byzantine-era architecture.

An arched entrance flanked by two tower similar to that of the Notre-Dame exhibits it being the forerunner of France’s famed Notre-Dame cathedral.
