NYC Doctor Pulled Off Duty For Racist Posts: Reports

THE BRONX, NY — A radiologist at Montefiore Medical Center was reportedly pulled off duty as the hospital investigates racist internet posts he allegedly made. Dov Bechhofer argued for forced deportations and the creation of a white ethnostate despite identifying as Jewish, according to news reports.

A Medium.com blog post detailed Bechhofer’s alleged comments on white supremacist websites including the blog for Counter-Currents Publishing, which describes itself as the “home of the North American New Right.” The now-deleted Medium post also published the doctor’s personal information.

“As soon as we learned of the Medium.com article, the employee was placed off duty pending the results of a thorough investigation,” Montefiore said in a statement to Gothamist. “The views expressed in the article are in no way reflective of Montefiore, our mission, how we conduct ourselves, or the care we deliver each day.”

Bechhofer allegedly expressed apparent support for violent revolution by white people and the forced deportation of people of color, according to an archived version of the Medium post. In one comment, he wrote that he wanted to see the creation of “White ethnostates” and that they should consider Jewish people “foreign elements.”

“(I)t’s clearer with each passing day that from functional and practical standpoints, they (Jewish people) need to be considered either non-White or perennially anti-White concerning aspirations of and strategies for the White race moving forward,” Bechhofer allegedly wrote in a comment.

He was also allegedly not concerned by violence at last year’s Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where the neo-Nazi James Fields killed a woman with his car.

“(T)he significant damage resulting from Charlottesville has little to nothing to do with Fields’s action with his car,” one comment reads

Reached for comment by Gothamist, Bechhofer said, “I understand that I’m not supposed to speak about this. I’m not discussing it at this moment.”
