Reactions to Massaro’s Passing, Bliss Update, Gallagher in MMA?

It was confirmed earlier this week that Ashley Massaro tragically passed away at the age of 39. Massaro wrestled for WWE for a number of years, won the 2005 Diva Search competition, and was even a Playboy cover girl. After the news of her death broke, several wrestlers took to social media to say some words about their old friend. Massaro’s passing seemingly came as a surprise for a fair amount of wrestlers, but they’ve all had kind words to say about the former WWE Diva. Whether it’s stars who worked with her like Maria Kanellis, Torrie Wilson, and Trish Stratus, or current stars like Bayley and Cody Rhodes, it’s clear that she left a positive impression on the wrestling landscape and a lot of the wrestlers themselves.

This is just awful news – Ashley Massaro is gone. She was only 39. She lived in the same town as me…I loved seeing her around. She was always so nice…and now she’s gone. #RIPAshleyMassaro pic.twitter.com/wOUY4gsTQo

Darling @ashleymassaro my heart hurts so much with this news. I remember being off with an injury and watching this beautiful, charismatic, athletic girl crowned Diva Search winner. Once I got cleared they ran the idea by me to come back and work with Ashley against Vince’s Devils – @torriewilson @mrs_candice_michelle and @reallisamarie. I didn’t know what to expect … what I met was a driven, hungry girl who was eager and all in. She was enthusiastic from the start, excited about the opportunity to prove she was more than just a model. . I was her first suplex, I stood alongside her as she took her first steps of her wrestling career… What a sport, a total pro and she loved every minute in the ring – and I loved living it with her, through her wide eyes of the newness of it all . When you work with someone in this business there is a bond that is forever formed. Even if the ‘work’/partnership is for only a brief time of your life, it is still a piece of your life that makes up your being. I’m thankful we kept in touch, every so often touching on those moments that we shared. . I’m having a hard time processing this news of my friend, a fellow worker, a fellow mom. I’m both sad and mad … . Rest In Peace baby girl, I hope you know how much you were loved by everyone, especially your punx. Sending the brightest light and the most love to Ashley’s daughter and her family.

I have no words. Ashley was my tag partner at Wrestlemania. My sometimes road wife. We did countless photo shoots and press days together. It seems like yesterday Ashley was a major part of my life and then our worlds changed and now she is gone. Im heartbroken for her family. https://t.co/QTcNxN3P0K pic.twitter.com/olaTWKD9JS

In 2007 when I got called up from developmental, Ashley Massaro was one of the locker room who reached her hand out and pulled me up to make me feel like part of the team and instilled a family attitude in the locker room. That kindness is rare and should never leave our business

Alexa Bliss was taken out of the Money in the Bank ladder match and replaced by Nikki Cross earlier in the week. This was a distressing sign for fans as Bliss has already missed a great deal of in-ring time over the past few months due to injuries. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer even noted that she is dealing with “worrisome” concussion-related issues. Meltzer also claimed that Bliss threw up backstage after taking a bad bump during a recent show, which is typically a sign that someone is feeling the effects of a concussion. Despite this, Bliss herself took to Twitter to claim that her “career is just fine.” Bliss will likely continue to remain on the sidelines until she is able to receive clearance to wrestle from WWE doctors again.

My career is just fine. Thank you for the concern though ????‍??????‍?? https://t.co/pKD1y9aHt6

Jack Gallagher remains a peculiar member of the 205 Live roster. Gallagher has been working as a cruiserweight for WWE ever since 205 Live launched years ago, but what some fans may not know is that Gallagher took part in a few MMA fights prior to signing with WWE. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bellator MMA is even interested in bringing Gallagher in for more fights. Bellator has been experiencing success with former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger this year. Gallagher currently has a 2-0 record in amateur fighting, but there is no word on when his deal with WWE expires. Gallagher seemingly commented on the reports this week by posting a photo of himself in the octagon on social media.
